Organization

The Pathology Service is organized into three mission-based and one cross-mission Divisions, each led by an Associate Chief of Pathology and an operations group:

• Clinical Services (Dr. Kent B. Lewandrowski, Associate Chief)
• Education (Dr. Stephen Black-Schaffer, Associate Chief)
• Research (Dr. David N. Louis)
• Informatics (Dr. John Gibertson, Associate Chief)

The Pathology Service is further organized into over thirteen functional Units, nearly all having a full tripartite mission of clinical service, education and research. The directors of each Unit work with all of the Associate Chiefs to achieve their missions. The major Units are:

• HLA Laboratory (Dr. Susan Saidman, Director)
• Clinical Immunology (Dr. Mandakolathur Murali, Director)
• Diagnostic Molecular Pathology (Dr. A. John Iafrate, Director)
• Molecular Pathology (Dr. J. Keith Joung, Director; research only)
