Dr. Piris is a surgical pathologist with fellowship training in Dermatopathology.
Dr. Piris' expertise is in the field of skin cancer, with a concentration on borderline and malignant melanocytic proliferations, in adults and in the pediatric population. His research interests include the presence, distribution, and effect of immune cells, such as lymphocytes, within the tumor microenvironment. He has also been involved in the study of molecular abnormalities in melanoma and immunotherapy, publishing several articles describing the effects of experimental vaccine therapy, as well as molecular targeted therapy in malignant melanoma.
