Training and Education
The Division of Education, led by Dr. Stephen Black-Schaffer (Associate Chief of Pathology, Training and Education), oversees and coordinates all training activities in the Pathology Service, including those relating to undergraduate medical education (UME), graduate medical education (GME) and continuing medical education (CME). The majority of activities center on our residency and fellowship programs, although the department features extensive activities in CME that include the Case Records of the MGH published in the New England Journal of Medicine and numerous postgraduate courses for practicing pathologists and other clinicians.
Residency and Fellowship Programs
You can access the Pathology Training Program Site for an overview of our pathology training programs, including information on our education philosophy and goals, descriptions of our rotations and conferences, and other program information. Information on our NIH T32 Training Grant is also available.
Case Records of the MGH

Forms to receive credit are handled by the department at MGH that is hosting the rounds. Visit the CPC Website for more information and the schedule of upcoming conferences. To search for published cases you can access the New England Journal of Medicine CPC case search site.
Postgraduate courses
The department offers a broad array of postgraduate courses for practicing pathologists and other physicians, as detailed in the Continuing Medical Education pages.
