Funding Opportunity Databases
Each of these databases provide excellent opportunities
to search for grant opportunities based on a variety
of parameters, including keywords, academic status,
citizenship, type of award, etc. In addition, you
may wish to make use of their e-mail services which
will send you e-mail updates of grant opportunities
in your area.
• Grants.gov
Grants.gov is the official
e-website where applicants may find and apply for
federal funding opportunities.
• Illinois
Researcher & Information Service (IRIS)
IRIS has strengths in providing very up-to-date information
on governmental sources as well as the private sector
• GrantsNet
GrantsNet is particularly useful for beginning investigators,
graduate student through junior-level faculty.
• NIH
Guide
The NIH Guide is e-mailed to subscribers each Friday
and is an excellent and free tool for keeping up-to-date
on new program announcements and notices. The NIH
Guide also includes a useful search tool. To subscribe
to the NIH Guide, go to: http://grants.nih.gov/grants/guide/listserv.htm.
In addition, it's always useful to conduct a funding
search for the NIH institute(s) most closely aligned
with your research. Each institute provides a list
of active program announcements and RFPs. For links
to the various of NIH institutes, go to: http://www.nih.gov/icd/.
• SPIN

• NIH
CRISP Database
Another tool that can be useful in your search for
funding is to find out about research that has been
supported in the past, comparing what has been funded
to that for which you are seeking funds. The NIH
CRISP Database provides information on current
and past awards from 1972 through the current cycle
of awards. This database can be accessed by a keyword,
PI name, date, and a variety of other parameters.
The database includes an abstract for each award.
