The Massachusetts General Hospital has ten Clinical Laboratories located both on the main campus and at MGH-East in Charlestown. These laboratories, along with several Surgical Pathology Laboratories, serve the hospital's patient population offering both routine and specialized testing. In all, there are over 25 separate laboratory sections, employing approximately 800 health care professionals and offering over 700 different procedures and assays. The profile of laboratory services offered at Massachusetts General Hospital has changed dramatically in recent years and continues to evolve as new technology and improved methodologies are discovered, some from our own research community.
