New Graduate RN Development Program

This eight hour program is designed to facilitate new graduate RN transition into the professional work environment. A focus is the nurse's progression toward that of an Entry Level Clinician (Patient Care Services Clinical Recognition Program). Class discussions are structured around an exploration of evidence in the literature regarding new graduate nurses. Discussion themes include: the patient/family interface, quality and safety, professionalism, reflective practice, narrative culture, mentoring, and ethics. The program also creates an atmosphere for faculty guided debriefing with peers/colleagues.

New graduate RN's are encouraged to attend several weeks AFTER formal orientation with a preceptor is complete.
