Phase I Wound Care Education Program

The one-day Phase I Wound Care Education Program provides an overview of contemporary evidence-based care of common wounds treated in the acute care setting. The program builds on a review of the physiology of wound healing. The central focus of the program is topical wound care, including cleansing, assessment, exudate management, and selection of products to promote debridement, granulation, epithelial migration, and wound closure. Serial documentation of wound status and treatment are emphasized. The program includes a practice session to clarify dressing application techniques and making treatment decisions. The target audience includes: All nurses new to the organization with an interest in wound care.
