Annual Required Training and Competency Assessment

Each employee in the Department of Nursing and Patient Care Services receives an ongoing evaluation of their performance throughout the year on an informal basis with their manager. A formal, written evaluation of his/her performance is completed on at least an annual basis.

As an integral part of this process, each employee must complete specific annual required training topics that are appropriate for their role. In addition, each employee will be assessed on defined job competencies that pertain to his/her position. The required training topics or competencies may be mandated by accrediting agencies or identified as required by the hospital because of their importance towards providing or improving quality patient care.

For more information about the performance appraisal process, click on the following link which will bring you to the policy located in the online Human Resources Policy and Procedure Manual:

Your manager will provide you with the materials to complete your annual training and competency requirements based on your job description . After you have read all of the required material, you must take the two post-tests located at the end of each packet. Please give the post test/answer key to your manager for inclusion with your performance appraisal documents.
