Basic Respiratory Nursing Care

The goal of this program is to introduce a standardized curriculum of basic respiratory care principles of patients on the adult and pediatric general care units. Topics include respiratory health assessment; sterile suctioning technique; artificial airways and oxygen delivery devices; principles of pulse oximetry monitoring; and identification and prioritization of the needs of a patient in respiratory distress.

As this is an orientation program, no contact hours are awarded.

Registration Fees:  Free for MGH Employees and Students, $25 for Partners Employees, $50 for All Others.

The Norman Knight Nursing Center does not accept credit card payments for registration of programs.  
Public transportation is strongly recommended  to attend continuing education programs. Garages in the vicinity of MGH generally charge approximately $ 40  per day. MGH does not reimburse for parking.
