Oncology Nursing Concepts: Advancing Clinical Practice
The purpose of this program is to increase knowledge about oncology nursing. Objectives are to describe the pathophysiology of cancer, identify the major treatment modalities for cancer, discuss the therapeutic effects and side effects of treatment, and discuss psychosocial aspects of caring for patients with cancer, integrate evidence-based nursing strategies to provide the most effective care for patients with cancer.
Objectives:
- Explain the pathophysiology of cancer
- Describe the therapeutic effects and potential side effects of the three major treatment modalities
- Discuss major psychosocial aspects of caring for patients with cancer

Massachusetts General Hospital (OH-239/10-1-08) is an approved provider of continuing nursing education by the Ohio Nurses Association (OSN-001-91), an accredited approver by the American Nurses Credentialing Center's Commission on Accreditation.
Criteria for successful completion include attendance at the entire event and submission of a completed evaluation form.
