The Nursing Research Operations Group (NROG) was established in 2004 to implement specific aspects now housed within The Yvonne L. Munn Nursing Research Center. As a working group, the NROG facilitates specific research initiatives within The Yvonne L. Munn Center to achieve strategic outcomes. Each initiative is led by a nurse dyad, including clinical nurse specialists and doctorally-prepared nurses working in partnership to achieve program goals. The dyad leadership model allows internal talent to advance MGH research agenda, mentor novice researchers and within a protected time model, establish a viable option for accomplishing new work. Specific research program initiatives include:

    The Doctoral Forum
  • Supports the growth of nurse scientists, by expanding nursing research through dialogue and presentations.
  • Works to create a professional community of nurse scholars to help advance individual programs of research, share ideas and provide support and guidance for nurse scientists.
  • Nurses with their earned doctorates and those enrolled in a doctoral program are   members of this community and benefit from the opportunity to share knowledge and explore areas for collaboration and further study.
  • Outreaches to a broader community of scholars to advance nursing scholarship.
The Norman Knight Visiting Professor Program
  • Invites nurse scholars from within and outside of MGH to share their expertise with nurses through collaboration, teaching, mentoring and research discussions.
  • Doctorally-prepared nurses and clinicians can access nurse scholars in a variety of forums, and work to integrate new knowledge and experience into practice.
