Welcome to Massachusetts General Hospital's Division of Plastic and Reconstructive Surgery. One of the elements that makes Massachusetts General unique is its focus on plastic surgery research and education, in addition to patient care. The division operates a Plastic Surgery Research Laboratory, which conducts investigations into four primary areas of interest:

1. tissue engineering of cartilage
2. mechanisms of neural injury and regeneration
3. transplantation of vascularized limb tissues
4. physiology of free flaps

MGH is also committed to training future healthcare providers, including the Harvard Program in Plastic Surgery, which allows residents to optimize their educational experience by rotating through five of Boston's best teaching hospitals. We also train highly subspecialized hand surgeons through our Hand and Microvascular Fellowship. Year after year, our graduates have left MGH as highly talented plastic surgeons that bring their special expertise to other parts of the country and the world.
