What to Expect

Our approach to patient care centers on the patient. Our physicians will work with you to determine a surgical or non-surgical treatment plan to help you achieve your treatment goals.

We have a dedicated team of nurse practitioners who provide continuous education, support and care. Our patient coordinators will help arrange your surgery, aftercare and accommodations (for our out-of-town patients and guests).

During your consultation, the surgeon will review your medical history and treatment goals. Treatment options, including risks and benefits, will be discussed in detail. Photos may also be necessary. We also ask that you bring a list of medications, vitamins and herbal supplements that you take, along with information on dosages.

We may share before-and-after photos to demonstrate the benefits of various surgical options. Our goal is to give you a realistic picture of what to expect so that you can make an informed decision. We also review what's involved in any surgery, including:

• Anesthesia
• Anticipated results
• Hospital care
• Postoperative recuperation

Our clinicians monitor post-procedure pain closely, and discomfort can usually be controlled through medication. Depending on your procedure, bruising may be visible for a week or two, but patients generally return to their normal lifestyles quickly.

Body Contouring SurgeryThe Body Contouring Program offers comprehensive, state-of-the-art surgical services designed to enhance the patient’s appearance. We offer treatments for patients interested in body contouring after massive weight loss, as well as patients interested in aesthetic and cosmetic enhancements.

Our surgeons perform a wide range of body-contouring procedures, including:

• Arm lift (brachioplasty)
• Breast lift/reshaping using the patient’s own tissue from the sides and back [intercostal artery perforator (ICAP) or spiral flap]
• Breast reduction
• Buttocks lift/reshaping and enlargement using the patient’s own tissue [superior gluteal artery perforator (SGAP) flap]
• Circumferential body lift, a procedure in which an abdomen reduction and buttock reduction are performed at the same time
• Fat transfer from one area of the body into the face and nasolabial folds, buttocks or breasts to improve appearance following breast reconstruction
• Gynecomastia correction to minimize abnormally large breasts in males
• Liposuction
• Thigh lift
• Tummy tuck (abdominoplasty/panniculectomy)

Cosmetic Breast Surgery

Our surgeons have conducted many of the primary research studies on silicone and saline breast implants. We offer a variety of surgical options to help patients improve the appearance of their breasts, such as:

• Breast enlargement (augmentation mammaplasty): Increasing the volume or size of the breasts
• Breast surgery after massive weight loss to remove excess breast tissue
• Breast lift (mastopexy): Raising and reshaping sagging breasts
• A combination of breast enlargement and lift

Breast Reduction Surgery

Elective surgery for breast reduction can produce important health benefits and may be covered by insurance. This procedure involves removing fat, glandular tissue and skin from the breasts, making them smaller, lighter, firmer and lifted.

Cosmetic Head and Neck Surgery

We offer a variety of surgical options to address the cosmetic concerns of male and female patients:

• Brow or forehead lift
• Custom cheek or facial implants
• Ear pinning (otoplasty)

Noninvasive aesthetic treatments to enhance facial appearance include injectable therapies and chemical peels.

Injectable Therapies

Injected into the skin, facial fillers can augment creased and sunken areas of the face or fill out lips and cheeks.

• Botox®: Among the most widely used treatments for facial wrinkles, Botox provides a simple approach for temporarily smoothing moderate to severe lines
• Juvederm®: This "next-generation" injectable gel consists of hyaluronic acid, a naturally occurring substance in the skin that adds volume and hydrates, and is designed to smooth away wrinkles and folds
• Restylane®: This injectable gel also consists of hyaluronic acid and acts in similar fashion to Juvederm
• Fat injections: After extracting fat from another part of the body (e.g. abdomen or thighs), we inject it into an area requiring augmentation; because the fat comes from your own body, there is no risk of an allergic reaction

Chemical Peels

Applying a chemical solution to remove the outer layers of skin can uncover smoother, more evenly pigmented skin. We offer three types of chemical peels:

• Light peels (alphahydroxy acids, or AHAs): The mildest of the chemical peels, light peels include glycolic, lactic, and fruit acid peels
• Medium peels (trichloroacetic acids, or TCAs): For skin with moderate sun damage, surface wrinkles and/or uneven tone or pigment abnormalities, medium peels may offer a solution
• Deep peels (phenol acid): We use deep peels to treat skin with coarse wrinkles, blotchiness or precancerous growths
