The Massachusetts General Hospital Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation Service improves quality of care by bringing additional knowledge and expertise to the management of patients with disabilities and pain syndromes.

Our physiatrists aim to restore patients’ quality of life by improving their function and independence. In some cases, they are able to decrease patients’ length of stay by facilitating quicker discharge to appropriate levels of rehabilitation care.

All of our physiatrists have dual clinical appointments through the Spaulding Rehabilitation Hospital. Special areas of clinical rehabilitation expertise include spinal cord injury, traumatic brain injury, stroke, neuromuscular, orthopedic, amputation, complex medical rehabilitation, chronic pain and spine disorders.
