The Psychotherapy Research Program at Massachusetts General Hospital was formed to study empirically both the process and outcome of psychotherapy for a range of psychiatric disorders. The PRP is staffed by psychologists and psychiatrists in the Outpatient Department of Psychiatry at MGH. The PRP investigates what forms of psychotherapy work best for whom under what circumstances. A particular interest of the PRP is furthering understanding of how psychotherapy works through intensive study of the therapeutic process. The PRP collaborates across multiple clinical research programs in the outpatient Psychiatry Department at MGH.
The PRP focuses on research involving psychotherapy process and outcome research. The PRP meets weekly and is composed of clinical faculty and researchers plus trainees who discuss and present research projects at all stages of development. The group facilitates planning new projects, working with on-going research, and writing and publishing manuscripts. Group members also read and discuss current literature in the field of psychotherapy. |
