Description:
Ezra Griffith, MD will speak on the subject of 'belonging', specifically, the mental energy people from minority communities and women spend on the question of "do I belong" and he will be reflecting on his own career in an academic institution as it pertains to this question. This presentation is part of the Spring Speaker Series sponsored by the Psychiatry department's Center for Diversity. It will be held at 11 am April 23 in the Ether Dome, 4th floor, Bulfinch.

Agenda:

Dr Ezra Griffith is Professor Emeritus of and Senior Research Scientist in Psychiatry, professor emeritus of African American studies and Deputy Chair for Diversity and Organizational Ethics at Yale School of Medicine. He is past president of the American Academy of Psychiatry and the Law and of the American Orthopsychiatric Associaton.

Dr. Griffith is co-editor of Clinical Guidelines in Cross-Cultural Mental Health and Racial and Ethnic Identity: Psychological Development and Creative Expression. He is the author of Race and Excellence: My Dialogue with Chester Pierce and I’m Your Father Boy, a memoir of his own Barbadian father.
