

Biography
David Mischoulon is an Associate Psychiatrist atMassachusetts General Hospital, an Associate Professor of Psychiatry at HarvardMedical School, and the Director of Research and Alternative Remedy Studies atthe Depression Clinical and Research Program at Massachusetts General Hospital. Dr. Mischoulon graduated from the combined MD-PhD program atBoston University School of Medicine in 1994, and then interned in preliminarymedicine at Carney Hospital from 1994-1995. From 1995-1998 he completed hisresidency in adult psychiatry at Massachusetts General Hospital,where he served as Chief Resident in Psychopharmacology. Dr Mischoulo?s research has focused on various areas ofdepression, including complementary and alternative medicine. He is also anaccredited medical acupuncturist and is carrying out studies of acupuncture asa treatment for depression. He has received two NARSAD Young Investigatorawards, and a K-23 mentored award from NCCAM to study omega-3 fatty acids inthe treatment of depression. He has also received an R01 grant fromthe NIH to continue his work on omega-3 fatty acids for depression. Dr. Mischoulon has authored or co-authored more than 100original articles, review articles, and book chapters, and has also co-edited atextbook on natural medications for psychiatric disorders. He has been aninvited speaker at various sites around the country and internationally, and haswon several awards. Dr. Mischoulon teaches and supervises residents and medicalstudents, and lectures in various MGH Psychiatry Academy continuing medical education courses.
