

Biography
Born and raised in Wisconsin, Dr. Weiss received his Bachelor of Science degree in Pharmacology & Toxicology from the University of Wisconsin (UW) School of Pharmacy and his Doctorate in Medicine from the UW School of Medicine. He also received a Masters Degree in Medical Science from Harvard Medical School and an MBA degree (summa cum laude) from the F.W. Olin School of Business at Babson College. He has been at Massachusetts General Hospital since 1997.
As the Director of Quality Management within the MGH Department of Psychiatry he is currently charged with leading this top-ranked academic program in an introspective effort of continuous process improvement and outcomes measurement. In addition to this formal role, Dr. Weiss serves on a number of key committees dedicated to healthcare quality and safety at the departmental, hospital, and Partners-wide levels. He is graduate of the Advanced Training Program in Healthcare Quality Improvement led by Dr. Brent James at Intermountain HealthCare in Utah. He is a member of the American Neuropsychiatric Association, the American Society for Quality, and the American College of Physician Executives.
Dr. Weiss is a Board-certified Psychiatrist with a clinical practice in the area of Neuropsychiatry. He has published in the leading journals in psychiatric neuroscience, and has served as a reviewer for over a dozen major publications in psychiatry and clinical neurosciences. He is a recipient of Young Investigator Awards from both NARSAD and the International Congress on Schizophrenia Research. He was also awarded a 2004 Excellence in Teaching Award from Harvard Medical School.
