Training & Education

As a teaching affiliate of Harvard Medical School, the Department of Psychiatry trains residents, interns and fellows in their areas of specialty and offers continuing education programs for other mental health professionals.



  • Addiction Psychiatry

    One-year Addiction Fellowships affiliated with Harvard Medical School offer exposure to a wide range of clinical opportunities.

  • Behavioral Neurology and Neuropsychiatry Fellowship Program

    The Behavioral Neurology and Neuropsychiatry Fellowship Program at MGH within the Departments of Psychiatry and Neurology will help train the next generations of outstanding neuropsychiatrists and behavioral neurologists.

  • Eating Disorders Summer Research Fellowship

    Since 1997, a summer fellowship program has been designed to stimulate interest in eating disorders research and train young investigators in the field.

  • Forensic Psychiatry Fellowship

    The Harvard Forensic Psychiatry Fellowship is a one-year, full-time ACGME-approved training program based at the Massachusetts General Hospital. The fellowship is designed to provide comprehensive training in forensic psychiatry, drawing on multiple clinical sites, a large-multi-disciplinary teaching faculty; and a vast array of academic opportunities within the Harvard system.

  • Global Psychiatric Clinical Research Training Program

    The Massachusetts General Hospital (MGH) Global Psychiatric Clinical Research Training Program is a three-year program designed to develop independent and productive clinical scientists committed to addressing the rising burden of mental illness, including schizophrenia, in global settings.

  • Massachusetts General Hospital Clinical Translational Fellowship at Pfizer

    This Fellowship provides a unique opportunity for a Massachusetts General Hospital, board-certified or board-eligible physician scientist trained in Psychiatry to spend a period of up to two years working with the Pfizer Neuroscience Research Unit (NSRU) in Cambridge, Massachusetts and performing clinical activities at Massachusetts General Hospital in Boston.

  • Partners HealthCare Geriatric Psychiatry Fellowship

    The Partners HealthCare Geriatric Psychiatry Fellowship is an ACGME accredited fellowship which fulfills the specialized post-residency training requirement necessary for ABPN certification in the subspecialty of Geriatric Psychiatry.

  • Psychosomatic Medicine/Consultation Psychiatry

    Now in its fourth decade, Massachusetts General Hospital's Fellowship in Psychosomatic Medicine/Consultation Psychiatry is a one-year program open to board-eligible psychiatrists and internists.


  • Internship in Clinical Psychology

    Clinical Psychology

    A predoctoral internship in Clinical Psychology to matriculated doctoral students enrolled in clinical or counseling psychology programs.
