We provide services for an inner city population comprised of many refugees and immigrants as well as the many generations of families that have remained here in Chelsea. Chelsea is a crowded city with over 35,000 residents and more than 20 languages spoken.
CLINICAL PROGRAM: Our clinic provides individual, family and group therapy; psychopharmacology, psychological testing; concrete services to the patients of the Health Center. Additionally we have several specialty programs focusing on the care of Refugees, Children Exposed to Violence; and Trauma Treatment.
TRAINING: We also have a teaching and training program for Psychiatry Residents; Psychology Interns and Social Work Interns.
The Center for Community Health Improvement builds on MGH’s long term commitment to its health center communities of Chelsea, Revere and Charlestown, as well as Boston. Today, the MGH Center for Community Health Improvement has more than 35 partnerships and programs that aim to:
- Prevent and reduce substance abuse
- Increase opportunities for Boston students
- Interrupt the cycle of family and community violence
- Eliminate racial and ethnic disparities in health care
- Improve access to care for vulnerable populations
