  • BBA relief on horizon for new year
    Hospitals and health systems received good news before ending the year 2000. In December, negotiators from the White House and Capitol Hill reached an agreement that would provide relief from the drastic cuts imposed by the Balanced Budget Act (BBA).
  • DF/HCC earns designation as comprehensive cancer center
    In recognition of the breadth of cancer research conducted by investigators at the MGH, Dana-Farber, BWH, Beth Israel Deaconess Medical Center, Children's Hospital, Harvard Medical School and Harvard School of Public Health, the Dana-Farber/Harvard Cancer Center (DF/HCC) has been officially designated a comprehensive cancer center by the National Cancer Institute (NCI).
  • Claflin Distinguished Scholar Awards
    Applications for the 2001 Claflin Distinguished Scholar Awards now are available for those interested in supplemental funding for research. Sponsored by the Executive Committee on Research and the MGH Office for Women's Careers, the purpose of the awards is to provide funding for junior faculty to sustain research productivity during child-rearing years.
  • Partners Physicians Day
    Partners will be hosting the second annual Partners Physicians Day Feb. 3, from 8 am to 5:30 pm at the Sheraton Boston Hotel.
  • MGH wins 2000 Consumer Choice Award
    The National Research Corporation (NRC) recently announced that consumers chose the MGH as the hospital with the highest quality and image in the Boston area. The MGH was one of 122 hospitals to be honored with a Consumer Choice Award.
