  • A job well done
    It was a true hero's welcome as the IMSuRT (International Medical Surgical Response Team) returned home, after spending two weeks helping to treat thousands of Iranians who were injured during a massive earthquake Dec. 27.
  • Conference room named for Cassem
    The MGH Department of Psychiatry recently recognized Ned Cassem, MD, former chief of MGH Psychiatry, by naming a conference room in his honor. Colleagues, friends and students gathered in the Trustees Room for a reception to thank and pay tribute to Cassem.
  • MOMS program helps mothers-to-be stay smokefree
    With the beginning of a new year, promises are often made to live a healthier and more fulfilling life. To quit smoking is a common New Year's resolution, but for one group of smokers pregnant women smoking cessation is a challenge that can't wait for a holiday. For these smokers, quitting is an urgent need because smoking can affect not only the course of the pregnancy but also the health of the baby.
  • Team MGH prepares for a rematch
    Team MGH again is challenging the Boston Bruins alumni team "The Black and Gold Legends" in a hockey game to benefit the hospital's annual United Way campaign.
  • MGH offsets MBTA rate hike
    MGH Parking and Commuter Services has announced that the MGH will increase its MBTA subsidy to compensate for the MBTA rate increase, effective with the February 2004 passes. While the MBTA has raised most rates by 25 percent, the MGH subsidy also will increase 25 percent to shoulder the burden of the MBTA increase.
  • Come rain, snow, sleet or hail: MGH is there
    If the recent drop in frigid temperatures and the December snowstorm, which dumped more
    than 30 inches of snow in several places in the region, are an indicator to what lies ahead, then New England is in store for yet another long, cold and snowy season.
  • Blood donors needed
    The MGH Blood Donor Center is asking all eligible MGHers to donate blood. The hospital's blood supply is low, and all types of blood are needed.
