MGH Outdoor Club
The MGH Ski Club has changed its name to the MGH
Outdoor Club. The name change reflects the other activities the club organizes, including
white-water rafting, hiking and sky diving. All MGHers are welcome to join, and there is
no fee. To become a member of the MGH Outdoor Club, send e-mail to cskeuse@partners.org or lgarniss@partners.org.
Kenneth B. Schwartz
Rounds
All MGHers are invited to attend the 35th Kenneth B.
Schwartz Rounds Feb. 25, noon to 1 pm in the Walcott Conference Room. The rounds will
feature a discussion about "Communicating Genetic Risk: Pros, Cons and Counsel."
Lunch will be provided. Nursing CEUs and Category 1 CME credits for risk management are

Clifford Stewart
Memorial Scholarship Fund
A memorial scholarship fund has been established in
memory of Clifford Stewart, a former Walsh Brothers construction manager who worked
regularly at the MGH for many years. Donations may be made to the MGH in Stewart's name to
support an endowed fund that will provide a $1,000 scholarship annually for education in a
construction-related field. Send donations to the Clifford Stewart Memorial Scholarship
Fund, c/o the MGH Development Office, 100 Charles River Plaza, Boston, MA 02114. For more

Minority Women's
Health Forum
The first Minority Women's Health Forum at the MGH
will be held Feb. 25, 2 to 5 pm, in the Wellman Conference Room. Several MGH physicians
will speak about stress and depression, sexually-transmitted diseases and AIDS, parenting
issues, menopause and HRT, hypertension and other health issues. A reception will follow.

Medical terminology
courses
Partners Corporate Training will offer two medical
terminology courses beginning in March. Medical Terminology I is open to MGHers wishing to
gain a basic understanding of the subject. Medical Terminology II explores further detail
into selected terminology of the body systems plus pharmacology, radiology, oncology and
psychiatry. Davi-Ellen Chabner, author of The Language of Medicine, 5th
edition, will be the instructor. This course costs $50. To register or for more

Interhospital Women's
Health Grand Rounds
Harvard Medical School's (HMS) Center of Excellence
in Women's Health will host "Women and Tobacco Use: Does Gender Matter?" The
grand rounds will be presented by Nancy Rigotti, MD, director of the MGH Tobacco Research
Treatment Program, March 1, 5:30 pm in the Gryzmish Building, Sherman Auditorium, Beth
Israel Deaconess Medical Center.
HMS Dean's Community
Service award
Dean Joseph Martin of Harvard Medical School (HMS)
is requesting nominations for the second annual Dean's Community Service Award.
Emphasizing community service as an integral part of the HMS and Harvard School of Dental
Medicine academic mission, the award recognizes and encourages participation in community
service activities and programs. The deadline to nominate a faculty member, resident or
student is March 24. An awardee's community service program will receive a check for

Free employee holiday
parking
The MGH Parking Office will provide employees free
parking in the front garages Feb. 21 (Presidents' Day). Employees must use a front garage
access card (night, weekend, evening) for entry and exit. MGHers who do not have access
cards may obtain a free card in the Fruit Street Parking Office. Employees without an
access card will be required to pay the maximum daily holiday rate of $6. |
