  • In the face of tragedy, the MGH unites
    As the entire country watched the horrific televised footage of the nightclub fire in Rhode Island Feb. 21, the MGH was plunged into the midst of the unfolding tragedy as some of the most severely burned patients were transported to the hospital.
  • Giving back to the youth community, MGHers recognized
    Felicity Goodridge, program manager for the MGH Executive Health Services, and Jennifer Jackson, administrative director for MGH Radiation Oncology, recently were selected as Black Achievers for 2003 by the YMCA of Greater Boston.
  • ATMs, CDs and cell phones – PACE poster campaign features modern conveniences
    A utomatic teller machines, compact discs, television remote controls, microwave ovens and cellular phones — all modern inventions that make everyday life easier. These same items are featured in a poster campaign to help educate MGHers about the Patient Administrative Cycle Enhancements (PACE) project. The posters are being distributed this week in outpatient practices and portions of CNY.
  • Better than ever: Patient Care Services website revamped
    "Simply the best" is how Jeannette Ives Erickson, RN, MS, senior vice president for Patient Care Services and chief nurse, describes the newly revamped Patient Care Services (PCS) website. Launched Feb. 20, the website was designed with a mandate from Ives Erickson to develop the "best patient care website in the country.
  • Patient safety showcased, first awards presented
    Partners Biomedical Engineering recognized three employees with its first Patient Safety Awards at a special ceremony held Feb. 5. Two award winners — one from the MGH, one from BWH — were chosen from departments or individuals nominated for demonstrating the best qualities of patient safety or identifying a serious patient safety problem and implementing an innovative solution.
  • MGHers recognize Black History Month
    Members of the Association of Multicultural Members of Partners (AMMP) recognized February as National Black History Month with a notable guest speaker at their monthly meeting held Feb. 24 in the O'Keeffe Auditorium. Gerald R. Reed, past president of a nonprofit organization called Blacks in Government (BIG), based his speech on this year's Black History Month theme "The Souls of Black Folk, Centennial Reflections."
