Giving back to the youth community, MGHers recognized

Felicity Goodridge, program manager for the MGH Executive Health Services, (below left), and Jennifer Jackson, administrative director for MGH Radiation Oncology (below right), recently were selected as Black Achievers for 2003 by the YMCA of Greater Boston.

The Black Achievers Program recognizes individuals who have demonstrated a history of achievement in their field, progressed within their organization, have the potential for further development, and show a willingness to participate in voluntary community service to benefit youth.

According to the Black Achiever nominations, Goodridge, who has been with the MGH for 15 years, brings compassion, patience, poise and perseverance to both her job and the volunteer work she does as a substitute Sunday school teacher, a member of her church outreach committee and an organizer of the youth program at Trinity Episcopal Church in Randolph, Mass.

Jackson — who for two years was part of the MGH Administrative Fellowship Program and has been with the Radiation Oncology department for six months — brings a proactive nature and dedication to her job, has already helped make significant operational improvements in her department and has shown herself to be a leader, according to the employees who nominated her. Already involved in crisis groups for women, such as DOVE (Domestic Violence Ended), Jackson also will be serving as a mentor in one of the youth programs offered by the Black Achievers Program. Goodridge and Jackson were recognized at the Partners Martin Luther King, Jr. Celebration Jan. 24 and received their awards at the YMCA Awards Gala Jan. 30.
