  • MGH to participate in smallpox vaccination plan
    While the Boston Public Health Commission's (BPHC) smallpox vaccination program began last week with the inoculation of nine public health response team members, the MGH has started its own preparations to be part of the BPHC's federally guided program. The MGH will be the designated site for the Phase 1A implementation of the BPHC's program.

  • Construction site tragedy brings more sadness to the MGH
    The MGH community was met with more sad news March 5 when an iron worker was killed in a tragic accident on the construction site of the hospital's new ambulatory care building. Christopher MacInnis, 30, who was part of the team erecting the frame of the building, was struck and killed by a steel beam that fell from above him. Boston emergency medical workers and firefighters responded to the incident, and MacInnis was taken to the MGH Emergency Department where he died.

  • Tropical rhythms transport MGHers to warmer climates
    The Eat Street Cafe and the Tea Leaves and Coffee Beans cafe were transformed into tropical getaways Feb. 28, as the sounds of three live steel-drum bands transported employees, patients and visitors to warmer climates.
  • Recognizing excellence: Massachusetts General Hospital Cancer Center celebrates
    With a rich history of conducting outstanding research and providing excellent cancer treatment, the Massachusetts General Hospital Cancer Center is celebrating its many accomplishments next week. The Cancer Center staff will be gathering March 11 for a series of celebrations throughout the day, ending with an evening event in the WACC Lobby starting at 5:30 pm.
