Seminars in Biostatistics for Clinical Investigators
The Clinical Research Program, the GCRC and the Center for Clinical Nutrition will sponsor "Seminars in Biostatistics for Clinical Investigators," April 6, 13, 20 and 27, 4 to 5 pm in the Walcott Conference Rooms. The seminars are intended for investigators at the fellow and faculty levels with minimal statistical experience. Recommended readings for this course will be assigned from the textbook "Basic and Clinical Biostatistics," which is on reserve at the Treadwell Library. Registration is required. Minority women's health conference
The Harvard Medical School's Center of Excellence in Women's Health will present "Diverse Women Celebrating Wellness in the New Millennium: Strategies for Women and Providers," March 30, 8 am to 5 pm at the Reggie Lewis Track and Athletic Center, Roxbury Community College, 1350 Tremont St. This conference is intended to promote wellness for women of diverse cultures and to provide a dialogue between health care providers and women. EAP work/life resources expo
The Employee Assistance Program will offer a work/life expo March 16, 11 am to 1:30 pm in the Wellman Conference Room. Information about balancing work and family; stress management; child and elder care; financial counseling; alcohol and drugs; nutrition and activity clubs will be available. Refreshments will be served, and MGHers can get a free head and neck massage.

MGH Institute of Health Professions seminar
The Alumnai Association of the MGH Institute of Health Professions will sponsor "Outside the Box: Moving Beyond Traditional Practice," March 13, 5:30 pm at the Holiday Inn, Government Center. Institute alumnae/i from speech-language pathology, physical therapy and nursing will discuss their unconventional career choices and the rewards and challenges of practicing "outside the box." Institute Trustee Ellen Zane, CEO of Partners Community HealthCare, Inc., who began her career as a speech-language pathologist, will give the keynote address. The cost of the event is $25. MGH Tennis Club revival
Efforts are underway to revive the MGH Tennis Club. Construction is almost complete for the tennis courts under the Lomasney Parking Garage in the Charles River Park area. Employees who are interested in playing tennis on Friday evenings, 5 to 6:30 pm, should contact David Harmon at 4-1112 or Peter Dowling at 4-8647.

MGPO quarterly meeting
Physicians and staff are invited to the Massachusetts General Physicians Organization (MGPO) quarterly meeting March 15, 5 to 6:30 pm in the O'Keeffe Auditorium. Speakers will include Samuel O. Thier, MD, president and CEO of Partners HealthCare System; Peter Markell, vice president of Partners Finance; Troy Brennan, MD, president of BWH Physician Organization; Michael Jellinek, MD, MGH senior vice president for Administration; and Joan Sapir, vice president, MGH/MGPO Customer Service and Practice Support. MGH Cancer Center HOPES seminars
The MGH Cancer Center HOPES Program (Helping Our Patients/ Families through Education and Support) will offer "Understanding Hospice as a Choice," facilitated by Connie Dahlin, RN, MSN, CS, and Sheryn Dungan, MSW, of MGH Palliative Care, March 16, 1 to 2 pm. "Bone Marrow/Stem Cell Transplant — A Discussion," facilitated by Cathleen Poliquin, RN, MSN, NP, of the MGH Bone Marrow Transplantation Center, will be offered March 17, noon to 1 pm.
