The
Boston Heart Party begins annual campaign The MGH and other Partners affiliates are participating for the second year in the Boston Heart Party, a two-month campaign to educate women about cardiovascular disease. The program includes information about cardiovascular disease risk factors and heart health management tips for women, as well as free blood pressure, cholesterol and blood glucose screenings. Partners, Pfizer, Inc., a research-based pharmaceutical company, and CareGroup, a health care system that includes Beth Israel Deaconess Medical Center, sponsor the campaign, which runs from March 18 through Mother's Day, May 14.
"Women in the United States have a one in two risk of dying from heart disease and stroke," says Claudia Chae, MD, of the MGH Cardiology Division. "However, with lifestyle changes and treatment of associated conditions like hypertension, diabetes and high cholesterol, this risk can be significantly reduced. The Boston Heart Party is a valuable opportunity to extend our screening and education efforts about cardiovascular disease to women in our communities." All appointments should be made
