Clifford Barger Award
All MGHers are invited to attend the A. Clifford Barger
Excellence in Mentoring Award ceremony, March 23, 4 to 5:30 pm in the Carl Walter
Amphitheater, HMS, 260 Longwood Ave. David Corey, MD, of MGH Neurobiology, will receive

New ATM at CNY
The Harvard University Employees Credit Union will install a surcharge-free ATM in the CNY
offices of Partners HealthCare System. The new ATM will be installed by April 1 on the
first floor of Building 149. MGHers interested in receiving an ATM card should stop by
Clinics 134 or the credit union main office in Harvard Square. For more information, call

Blood pressure
screening
The Massachusetts General Physicians Organization and Occupational Health Services will
sponsor a blood pressure screening day, March 22, 8 am to 4:30 pm in the Department of
Nutrition and Food Services, Blake Basement (opposite the entrance to Eat Street Café).

Compassionate
Caregiver Award
The Kenneth B. Schwartz Center is currently accepting nominations for the annual
Compassionate Caregiver Award, which honors caregivers in Massachusetts who display
extraordinary compassion in caring for patients. The winner will receive $5,000, which
will be shared if there is more than one winner. Any professional caregiver who has direct
contact with patients in Massachusetts is eligible for this award. Nomination forms can be
obtained by writing to the Kenneth B. Schwartz Center, 100 Charles River Plaza, Suite 600,
Boston 02114, by calling 4-6416 or by faxing to 6-7661. Nominations are due by May 15. The

MGH Cancer Center
HOPES seminars
The MGH Cancer Center HOPES Program (Helping
Our Patients/ Families through Education and Support) will present "Fear of Death:
Spiritual Resources," facilitated by Fr. Michael McElhinny, SM, of the MGH
Chaplaincy, March 21. "Feeling Stressed? Some Simple Steps to Relax,"
facilitated by Evelyn Malkin, MSW, of MGH Social Services, will be offered March 22. All
seminars are held in the Cancer

Marketplace foods to
go
The Eat Street Café now is offering "marketplace foods to go." Soups by the
quart cost $2.95 each and varieties include chicken noodle, beef vegetable, minestrone and
lentil squash. Also available are homemade pasta entrees, including macaroni and cheese
(16 oz.) for $2.95 and baked ziti with meat sauce (20 oz.) for $3.25.

Macaluso, RN Award
Nominations for the Stephanie M. Macaluso, RN, Expertise in Clinical Practice Award are
due by April 21. Nomination forms are available at the Gray Lobby desk. Nurses,
occupational therapists, physical therapists, respiratory therapists, speech and language

Spanish for Health
care
Registration begins March 20 for "Spanish for Health Care," a class sponsored by
MGH Human Resources and Partners Corporate Training. Beginning Spanish will be offered
Tuesdays, April 4 through June 27, noon to 1:30 pm at Founders Hall. Intermediate Spanish
will be offered Mondays, April 3 through June 26, 5:15 to 7:15 pm at 185 Charles River
Plaza. The cost is $110 for MGH employees, and the MGH will refund 65 percent of the fee
upon successful completion of the course. Both classes emphasize health care situations
