MGH
Radiation Safety staff honored
The MGH Radiation Safety Office participated in a meeting of the New England
Chapter of the Health Physics Society (NECHPS) March 11. The NECHPS's
mission is to offer aid in the health physics field, foster dissemination
of information among radiation professionals and improve public understanding
of issues involving radiation.
Rex Woodleigh, director of the MGH Radiation Safety Office, was a keynote
speaker at the meeting and spoke on the topic of radiation errors. Woodleigh
described the efforts by the MGH to eliminate errors of this type through
the enactment of quality assurance programs in all departments where radiation
is used for medical diagnosis and therapy. "The MGH has taken a leadership
position in error prevention," said Woodleigh.
At the same meeting, Tara Medich, assistant director of the MGH Radiation
Safety Office, was reelected to the NECHPS Board of Directors. Medich
will be serving two years in this capacity and also will serve as chairperson
of the NECHPS membership committee.
