Faculty seminar series
The Department of Medicine Academic Council will present a faculty seminar entitled, "How to Write a Grant — Junior Faculty" April 24, from 4 to 5:30 pm in the Wellman Conference Room. The discussion will include strategies for timing and preparation for independent grants, NIH structure and federal funding versus private foundations and industry sources. Clinical Advisory Group information systems meeting
The Clinical Advisory Group will hold a meeting about information systems April 21, from 5:30 to 7:30 pm in the Wellman Conference Room. Topics will include the upcoming clinical systems symposium, and updates on the 2004 budget, the Longitudinal Medical Record and Provider Order Entry.

National Minority Cancer Awareness Week
The MGH Cancer Center will host two events recognizing National Minority Cancer Awareness Week April 21 to 27. "Caring for the Community" will take place April 23, from 1 to 3 pm in the O'Keeffe Auditorium, featuring Rev. Ray Hammond, author Thomas Farrington and Bruce Chabner, MD, clinical director of the MGH Cancer Center. "Making a Difference in Your Care — What You Need to Know About Cancer Prevention" will be held April 24, from 1 to 3 pm in the O'Keeffe Auditorium. Cancer Center clinicians will staff tables with educational information about cancer prevention, and an informal presentation will be held from 2 to 3 pm. Boston Stroke Society symposium
The Boston Stroke Society will hold a symposium, "Unruptured Intracranial Aneurysms," May 7, at 7:20 pm in the Wellman Conference Room. A limited-seating dinner prior to the event also will be held with advance reservations. Christopher Ogilvy, MD, director of Cerebrovascular Surgery at the MGH, will be a featured speaker. To make a reservation, send e-mail to eychan@partners.org by May 2. Cost of dinner is $15 for staff, $5 for residents and fellows. Checks made out to the Boston Stroke Society should be sent to Robert Ackerman, MD, prior to the event.

CNRC accepting applications
The Clinical Nutrition Research Center (CNRC) at Harvard Medical School now is accepting applications for new pilot/feasibility projects and competing renewals of currently funded one-year projects. Candidates must submit applications by May 16 to W. Allan Walker, MD, 114 16th St., Charlestown, MA, 02129, or contact Suzette McCarron at (617) 726-4166.
