Skin cancer screenings
The Department of Dermatology will offer free skin cancer screenings by MGH dermatologists, May 9, from 5 to 7 pm in WACC 481. To make an appointment, call 6-1869.

Alcoholics/Narcotics Anonymous meetings
Open Alcoholics Anonymous/Narcotics Anonymous meetings will be offered at the MGH Wednesdays, noon to 1 pm. For the location of the meetings, call 6-6976.

Walk and run to benefit Shriners Burns Hospital
The "Kids are Special" 10K and 5K runs and 5K walk will be held May 20 along the Esplanade. All proceeds will go toward treating burned children at the Boston Shriners Burns Hospital. Runs start at 9 am and the walk begins at 10:30 am. To register, visit http://heplpc6.harvard.edu/run_walkforkids or call 722-3000 ext. 4455 to request an application by mail.

Adoption seminar
The Employee Assistance Program will sponsor a Work/Life seminar about adoption, April 27, noon to 1 pm, in the Burr 5 and 6 Conference Rooms. The presentation will include an exploration of reasons to adopt, recent trends in domestic and international adoptions and the basics of the adoption process. For more information, call 6-6976.

Longwood Symphony Orchestra
The Longwood Symphony Orchestra (LSO) will perform Beethoven's "Violin concerto in D" in a concert to benefit St. Jude Children's Research Hospital, May 6, at 8 pm, Jordan Hall. Pre-ACLS course
A course will be offered to review skills for those taking the Advanced Cardiac Life Support provider course, June 5, 8 am to 4 pm in the O'Keeffe Auditorium. Attendees should have taken Basic Life Support. Basic concepts, including defibrillation, pharmacology, cardioversion and airway management will be reviewed, and there will be opportunity for hands-on practice. The course fee is $59. Investigator-held INDs — Are You in Compliance?
The Clinical Research Program (CRP) will sponsor "Investigator-held INDs — Are You in Compliance?" May 3, from 4 to 5 pm in the Lawrence House, first floor conference room. The lecture is intended to help investigators and their study staffs understand federal regulations. Judy Scheer, MPH, RN, of the CRP Education Unit, will discuss the application process and ongoing responsibilities of sponsor-investigators who conduct these clinical studies.
