  • Medical milestone changes future of cardiovascular care
    Researchers at the MGH, BWH and Beth Israel Deaconess Medical Center (BIDMC), who jointly coordinated and were the only participating New England centers for the national clinical trial of drug-coated stents, hailed a April 22 decision by the Food and Drug Administration (FDA) to approve these devices for widespread use in cardiovascular care.
  • Pam Ellis Memorial Secretarial Award winner recognized
    Rosemary Dolan is described as the "secretary every other secretary cites as the best, who every resident says he or she would like to have work for them when setting up a practice," according to G. Rees Cosgrove, MD, an MGH neurosurgeon and Dolan's boss. This is just one of many reasons why Dolan was the 2003 recipient of the Pamela J. Ellis Memorial Secretarial Award.
  • FYI poster addresses patient confidentiality
    The next in a series of FYI posters is being distributed throughout the hospital this week and focuses on the important subject of patient confidentiality. The posters are meant to help MGHers prepare for the upcoming survey by the Joint Commission on Accreditation of Healthcare Organizations (JCAHO).
  • MGHers run from the heart
    Braving warm temperatures, treacherous potholes and the famously feared Heartbreak Hill, MGHers were among a sea of thousands of runners who laced up their sneakers and took their place at the starting line of what has become the epitome of physical endurance the Boston Marathon. Although most athletes run the historic route for the pure sport of it, for these MGHers, who run on behalf of others who cannot, the spirit of the race comes from the heart.
  • In memoriam
    Jacques Pierre, an employee of MGH Nutrition and Food Services at the Eat Street Cafe, died April 15 from serious injuries he sustained April 8 in a car accident on his way to work. Peirre was hired at the MGH in February 2001.
