  • MGH teams up with organizations to raise money for ALS research
    The MGH is teaming up with the ALS Therapy Alliance, CVS/ pharmacy and Boston Red Sox player Nomar Garciaparra's foundation, the Nomar 5 Fund, to raise research funds for Lou Gehrig's Disease. The disease, also known as Amyotrophic Lateral Sclerosis or ALS, is a fatal neuromuscular disease characterized by progressive death of motor nerves resulting in muscle weaknessn and paralysis.
  • Lending a helping hand
    Many MGH employees received a helping hand during their work day April 26 as more than 300 children visited the hospital for Take Our Children to Work Day. Kids had the chance to sample cuisine from the Eat Street Café, pay a visit to the Children and HealthCare Week Fair under the Bulfinch Tent and, of course, help their parents or sponsors with their workload.
  • Protecting patient privacy: questions answered
    Since the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services passed regulations last April protecting patients' privacy under the Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act (HIPAA), many hospital employees have questions about how the new guidelines will affect how they care for patients.
  • Picking up the PACE: Patient administration project underway
    Since the January launch of the new patient administration project called Patient Administrative Cycle Enhancements (PACE), teams of employees have been working diligently in the first phase of the three-year project. The goals of the project include redesigning administrative processes associated with patient care, providing enhanced technology to support these streamlined processes and ultimately providing a significant financial benefit to the hospital.
