MGH acquires rights to local health club

MGH employees are in the business of keeping others healthy, and soon they can stay fit and healthy themselves with the convenience of the Charles River Park Health and Fitness, Pool and Cabana Club, located just behind the hospital near Whittier Place. The MGH acquired the rights to the facility known as The Clubs at Charles River Park May 1.

After a few repairs and renovations set to take place in the next few months, The Clubs will be offered as a health and fitness benefit to MGH employees who wish to join. The hospital also plans to continue operating The Clubs as a commercial facility for the residents of Charles River Park and the surrounding community.

"And we plan to make renovations that will improve and enlarge the club, so that even more employees and members of the community can enjoy the club's quality services."

The facility is a full-service fitness center that includes an indoor and outdoor pool, cabana, locker rooms, saunas, steam rooms, a wide range of exercise equipment and an outdoor café open during the summer months. The Clubs also offer various classes ranging from yoga and low-impact aerobics to high-intensity step aerobics and spinning classes.

"Our vision is to have a community of wellness," says Kate Brill-Daley, manager of The Clubs. "We feel this is a perfect union between the Charles River Park community and the MGH."
