Demystifying cancer
Last
month more than 150 people visited the Museum of Science for a series
of lectures and discussions — many led by MGH staff — that
provided information about cancer and its effect on patients and their
families. Co-sponsored by the MGH, the Whitehead Institute for Biomedical
Research, the American Society of Law, Ethics and Medicine and the Museum
of Science, the two-day symposium, entitled Demystifying Cancer, also
highlighted information resources about cancer treatments and research.
Using the Internet as a resource was an important focus for many of the
attendees. Above, Debbie Essig, MSW,
of the MGH Cancer Resource Room, left, helps Marilyn Wolff of Brookline
find some cancer-related web sites.
