  • MGH celebrates historic gift: $25 million from Yawkey Foundation
    MGH history was made May 6 with the announcement of a $25 million commitment from the Yawkey Foundation to support the hospital’s efforts to help increase access to vital outpatient care and services for patients throughout New England. The gift, which will be distributed over the next eight years, represents the largest contribution ever made to the MGH. To recognize the generosity of the foundation, the MGH will name its new outpatient facility, currently under construction, the Yawkey Center for Outpatient Care.
  • Seeds of Change: MGH celebrates 10 years of domestic violence awareness
    It was an emotional night but one to be celebrated as several women representing countless others stood proudly before family, friends and co-workers to tell their powerful and often frightening tales of how they transformed themselves from victims of domestic violence to survivors.Employees from throughout the hospital came together May 2, to celebrate 10 years of keeping domestic violence awareness alive at the MGH at a special ceremony called "Seeds of Change."
  • Patients receive royal treatment
    Patients of MassGeneral Hospital for Children received a rare treat May 3, when they were visited by members of Queen for a Day — a national, nonprofit organization designed to raise the self-esteem and self-confidence of girls coping with serious illness.
  • MGH nurse celebrates a special kind of Mother's Day
    Like most mothers, Mary Forshay hopes to spend this Mother's Day with her children. She has three sons: Christopher, 22, Matthew, 21, and Michael, 17. But this year's celebration of motherhood has a special meaning to her. It was at this time last year that she almost lost her two youngest sons--one to a tragic car accident and the other to a congenital heart condition.

  • Celebrating 60 years of service
    Amonthlong recognition of the 60th anniversary of the MGH Blood Transfusion Service (BTS) came to a close April 27 with a special dinner at the New England Aquarium for BTS staff and special guests.
