School Age Vacation Club
The MGH Backup Child Care Center will offer a School Age Vacation Club, June 18 to 22, for employees' children from the age of kindergarten completion to 12 years old. Children will participate in such activities as a picnic on the Boston Common and a tour of the State House. Reservations will be taken only by phone, and a payment of $225 per child must be received by May 30. No part-time slots are available. LSO concert
The Longwood Symphony Orchestra (LSO), "Boston's orchestra of medical professionals," will perform a Brahms concert, May 12, 8 pm at New England Conservatory's Jordan Hall. The concert will benefit LADDERS (Learning and Developmental Disabilities Evaluation and Rehabilitation Services), a multidisciplinary facility in Wellesley that treats children and adults with autism and other learning and developmental disabilities. MGH Cancer Center HOPES Program events
The MGH Cancer Center's HOPES (Healing Our Patients and Families through Education and Support) Program will offer several events and seminars this month. William F. Pirl, MD, of MGH Psychiatry, will present "Gay and Lesbian Issues In Coping With Cancer," May 15, from noon to 1 pm. Michael McElhinny, Oncology Chaplain, will moderate "Fear of Death: Spiritual Resources," May 21, noon to 1 pm. All events will be held in the Cancer Resource Room on Cox 1. CNY Toastmasters club
MGH employees are invited to participate in the Ironsides Toastmasters Club, a bimonthly gathering for those interested in gaining experience as public speakers. The club meets in CNY Building 149, seventh floor auditorium, at noon on the second and fourth Tuesday of each month. Nutritional research projects
The Clinical Nutrition Research Center now is accepting applications for new pilot/feasibility projects and currently funded one-year projects. All applications must be received by May 21. Quit Smoking Service evening session
The MGH Quit Smoking Service will hold its first evening group session May 23, 5:30 to 6:30 pm at 50 Staniford St., ninth floor. The group will meet for six sessions, and participants must pre-register. For more information or to register, call (617) 726-7443.
