  • MGH awaits Magnet hospital recognition site visit
    Members of the MGH community have been busy preparing for the upcoming three-day site visit to determine if the hospital should be awarded a Magnet hospital certification - one of the highest honors given to hospitals in recognition for their exceptional nursing services. From June 10 to 12, appraisers from the American Nurses Credentialing Center (ANCC), a subsidiary of the American Nurses Association, will evaluate the MGH for Magnet status based on 14 standards of nursing care and professional performance.
  • A celebration of fitness
    The Clubs at Charles River Park — a full service health club adjacent to the MGH — recently marked its second anniversary of being affiliated with the hospital by showcasing the addition of 1,700 square feet of cardio fitness space.
  • MGH nurse honored
    One of MGH's finest was honored May 7 at the BostonWorks "Salute to Nurses" celebration at the Seaport Hotel. The Boston-Globe-affiliated recruitment service provider recognized three Massachusetts nurses for their exemplary competency and compassion during a special breakfast celebration. Marian (Mimi) Bartholomay, RN, of the MGH Hematology/Oncology Unit, was among the honorees for her exemplary work in nursing and her significant effect on her patients' lives.
  • A safer ride for little ones
    MassGeneral Hospital for Children teamed up with Jordan's Furniture, Kelly's Roast Beef, WCVB-TV Channel 5, and the Massachusetts State Police to host a free car seat safety check April 29 at Jordan's Furniture in Natick. Certified car seat safety technicians were onsite to assess car seats and to compare the child's weight and height measurements with the specifications of the car seat for a proper fit.
  • MGH celebrates National Minority Cancer Awareness Week
    In recognition of National Minority Cancer Awareness Week April 21 through 27, the MGH Cancer Center and the Dana-Farber Cancer Institute sponsored an event for the MGH community "Making a Difference in Your Care: What You Need to Know About Cancer Prevention" April 24 in the O'Keeffe Auditorium.
  • EBenefits anytime, anyplace
    Benefits information now is available to all MGHers 24 hours a day, seven days a week. The new online service, which began May 7, grants employees access to their benefits profile online through the new Employee Self Service feature in PeopleSoft, called eBenefits. Employees now are able to view or make changes to benefits information for life events such as marriage or birth and during annual open enrollment periods.
  • Support Service Employee Grant Program
    The Support Service Employee Grant Program now is accepting applications from MGH support service employees who are seeking to improve their skills and advance their careers. The program is available to all nonexempt, benefits-eligible employees who have worked at the MGH for at least two years and are in good performance standing.
