MGH nurse honored

One of MGH's finest was honored May 7 at the BostonWorks "Salute to Nurses" celebration at the Seaport Hotel. The Boston-Globe-affiliated recruitment service provider recognized three Massachusetts nurses for their exemplary competency and compassion during a special breakfast celebration.

Marian (Mimi) Bartholomay, RN, of the MGH Hematology/Oncology Unit, was among the honorees for her exemplary work in nursing and her significant effect on her patients' lives. Considered an "angel" by many of her patients, Bartholomay has been a nurse in the Cancer Center for the past decade.

"I strongly believe that nursing is the backbone of the health care system," says Bartholomay. "Every nurse I work with deserves this recognition. It's an honor to be one of them."

Timothy Johnson, MD, ABC News medical editor, who also is seen locally on WCVB-TV Channel 5, was the keynote speaker.
