  • Claflin awards support women's developing research careers
    Established by the Women in Academic Medicine Committee to help address work and family issues, the Claflin awards are funded by the Executive Committee on Research (ECOR) and are given to junior faculty women to support their ability to continue research careers while raising families.
  • Language loss may improve ability to spot lying
    A study in last week's issue of Nature finds that people with aphasia — a loss in language ability resulting from a stroke or other type of brain damage — appear to have a significant advantage in spotting liars, particularly when the untruths are given away by changes in facial expression.
  • Partners town meeting
    Samuel O. Thier, MD, president and CEO of Partners, will discuss a variety of topics related to Partners at a town meeting May 26, 10 to 11:30 am, in the O'Keeffe Auditorium. Submit questions by May 24 to the MGH Public Affairs Office.
  • MGH health centers host health forum
    Staff from MGH Chelsea and Revere HealthCare Centers recently co-hosted, with Harbor Community Health Alliance, a forum to showcase innovative community health programs in the communities of Chelsea, Revere and Winthrop.
  • Students go to work at the MGH
    Twenty-four students from the James P. Timilty Middle School came to the MGH May 16 for Job Shadow Day, a citywide initiative that provides students with an opportunity to explore the workplace firsthand.
