  • Healing hearts with the arts
    "Art brings joy to even the most hardened souls," said Joe MacDonald, a guest speaker, former homeless person and a featured artist, at a reception to celebrate the 19-year relationship between the MGH and the Boston Health Care for the Homeless Program.
  • Hazmat drill prepares MGH
    In preparation for a possible emergency associated with the 2004 Democratic National Convention (DNC), which will be held at the Fleet Center this summer, the MGH conducted a hazardous materials decontamination drill on May 23.
  • MGH honors community women as role models of good health
    A senior who volunteers her time to terminally ill children, the founder of an African American dance troupe and a senior center director who does not let multiple sclerosis slow her down, were among seven community residents honored by the MGH as "role models of good health" May 13 at Revere High School.

  • Employees are the GEMs of the hospital
    MGH employees often go above and beyond the call of duty to make the experiences of patients and their families as pleasant as possible. MassGeneral Hospital for Children (MGHC) has recognized this quality in its employees by creating the GEM Going the Extra Mile Recognition and Reward Program, a monthly awards initiative for all staff working in outpatient care areas of MGHC.

  • MGH Support Service Employee Grant program helps fulfill dreams
    Both Dolores Ivette Kershaw, of MGH Psychiatry, and Celia Maria Sewell, of the MGH Central Resource Department, are working hard to improve and advance their careers at the hospital and both are extremely grateful for the programs the hospital provides employees, especially the Support Service Employee Grant program. The program, funded by the MGH Diversity Committee, was developed in 1999 to help employees fulfill their career goals while improving current job performance. Grant recipients receive up to $1,500 to help defray educational costs.
  • Vincent IVF gets high marks
    In a recent report by Tufts Health Plan, the MGH Vincent Reproductive Medicine and In Vitro Fertilization (IVF) Unit was recognized as having one of the most successful programs in the region.
