Four MGHers recognized at Nursing Spectrum gala
Four
of the MGH's best and brightest were recognized May 19 at this year's New England
Nursing
Spectrum Nurse of the Year Gala. Nursing Spectrum is a nurse-led communications company
that publishes a biweekly magazine and produces a website that celebrate the nursing
profession.
Every year, the organization
sponsors this event to identify nurses from across New England who exemplify the true
spirit of nursing and the outstanding jobs they do every day. The four MGH nurses who were
among the nominees are: Joanne Empoliti, RN, MSN, clinical nurse specialist on White 6 and
Phillips 22; Mark Hammerschmidt, RN, BSN, staff nurse in the MGH Medical Intensive Care
Unit; Sally Millar, RN, director of MGH Patient Advocacy; and Keith Perleberg, RN, nurse
manager on Phillips 20 and 21.
"These nurses represent the
excellent practice of thousands of MGH nurses who make a difference every day in the
lives of our patients and their families," says Jeanette Ives Erickson, RN, MS,
senior vice president for Patient Care Services and chief nurse.
