Presentation about writing a human studies protocol
The Human Research Committee and the MGH Clinical Research Program will sponsor "What
does the IRB really want? How to write a Human Studies Protocol," June 19, from 4 to
5 pm in the O'Keeffe Auditorium. Libby Hohmann, MD, chair and director of the Partners
institutional review boards (IRBs), will assist investigators in learning how to submit
complete and concise applications and to respond to IRB questions. Both experienced and

Prostate Cancer Walk 2001
The first annual Prostate Cancer Walk will be held June 17 on the Boston Common.
Registration will begin at 10:30 am, and the 3.1 mile walk will begin at noon.
Participants also are invited to take part in the fourth annual "Dads Make A
Difference" celebration for fathers and families, from 1 to 5 pm on the Common.
Contributions will benefit prostate cancer research at the MGH and several other Boston

Breastfeeding seminar
The MGH Employee Assistance Program (EAP) will offer "Working and Breastfeeding:
Returning to Work and Maintaining Your Milk Supply," Part II of a seminar series on
breastfeeding. A session will be held June 7, from 1 to 2 pm in the Larry Martin
Conference Room B at CNY Building 149, and an additional session will be held June 13,

Gay and lesbian guide to coping with
cancer
William Pirl, MD, of MGH
Psychiatry, and Gabrielle Siegel, senior research analyst in MGH Psychiatry, have
co-authored "The Gay and Lesbian Guide to Coping With Cancer," a booklet
available to patients and loved ones through the MGH Cancer Center. The booklet, sponsored
by the Friends of the MGH Cancer Center, includes an overview of issues that affect the
gay, lesbian and bisexual community when coping with cancer, as well as a list of legal

Diabetic program for nurses
"2001: A Diabetic Odyssey," a program designed to enhance nurses'
