OWC reception honors women faculty

Maintaining the tradition of celebrating and honoring women faculty at the MGH, the MGH Office for Women's Careers (OWC) a hospitalwide resource for women physicians and scientists with Harvard Medical School appointments hosted its sixth annual reception May 29. The event recognizes women faculty who have made significant career accomplishments throughout the year.

"The OWC strongly believes in paying tribute to the incredible achievements of our women faculty," says Rebecca Starr, program manager for the OWC. "Although there still are impediments to the advancement in women's careers, it is crucial not only to focus on creating solutions to these hurdles but also to make women's accomplishments more visible."

In addition to helping increase the number of women faculty promoted based on academic criteria, the OWC also strives to facilitate the overall career accomplishments of MGH women faculty.
