    In its seven years, the Partners system has evolved into a successful hospital network, but still faces the challenges of a financially strained health care environment. Samuel O. Thier, MD, president and CEO of Partners HealthCare, delivered this and other messages in a progress report at a Partners Town Meeting at the MGH June 6.

    They are the unsung heroes of the hospital, devoting hours of unpaid time to better the lives of those around them, and often bettering their own lives in the process. MGH volunteers and their contributions were acknowledged at the MGH Volunteer Recognition Day ceremony, held under the Bulfinch Tent June 5.

    According to the MGH Benefits Office, COBRA is a valuable benefit that allows employees and their dependents to continue insurance coverage when they lose their benefits or are no longer eligible for benefits.
  • Sweet snacks help save lives
    When it comes to favorite breakfast treats,pancakes — stacked high with syrup or just piled plain — often rank high on the list. At the MGH Blood Donor Center's pancake breakfast May 29, the pancakes did more than fill some hungry stomachs; they also helped in the fight to save lives through blood donation.
  • Partners Home Care welcomes new president
    Marcia P. Reissig, RN, MS, CHCE, recently was appointed president of Partners Home Care, which was created last October with the merger of the MGH/Spaulding Home Health Agency, Newton-Wellesley Home Health Services and the Affiliated Community Visiting Nurses Association.
