It took 24 rolls of film before Nikki Zapol of MGH Corporate Sponsored Licensing finally took the picture, "Friends by the Lake, Hang Zhou, China," (right). She recalls having captured the two young children as "a real moment of luck."

Zapol was one of four first-place winners in the MGH Photography Department's second annual amateur photo contest. The other first-place photographers — winning in the categories people, pets, landscape and miscellaneous — were David Piazzo, RT, of MGH Radiology, Ruth Sieck of the Partners International Office and Debra Clark, HT, ASCT, of MGH Pathology.

The winners were announced at the photo fair June 3, where more than 200 photographs were exhibited. The first-, second- and third-place photographs will be displayed throughout the hospital at the end of June. For more information, call the Photography Department at 6-2237.
