Celtics
salute the heroes among us
At each home game since 1997, the
Boston Celtics have saluted the "Heroes Among Us" who have made overwhelming
contributions to the lives of others and to society.
On
April 10, the Celtics recognized the Silber family —
parents Sharon and Jason, daughter Karen and her
husband Michael
and their son Brad — for the establishment
of the Brian Silber Memorial Fund, which has raised more than $500,000
for the Brian Silber Spine Tumor Clinic at the MGH. The fund and clinic
were named in memory of Brian Silber, who lost his life to a spine tumor
in 1996.
During the second quarter
of the Celtics versus Philadelphia 76ers game, the Silbers were brought
to center court, saluted by the Celtics and had their photo
(above) taken with team captains Antoine Walker of the Celtics and Allen Iverson
and Eric Snow of the 76ers.
