Summer fun without the sun

Even without the sunny weather and warm summer temperatures, MGHers gathered under the Bulfinch tent and on the lawn for the annual summer picnic June 12, hosted by Peter L. Slavin, MD, president of the MGH. Employees received a complimentary lunch and enjoyed the upbeat sounds of the Volume II Steel Band. Popcorn, peanuts and cotton candy added to the carnival-themed event. The Fun Company provided games such as bingo, a basketball free throw, touchdown toss and a golf-driving simulator, all complete with prizes.

During the picnic, Slavin joined in on the festivities and gave a special presentation about the hospital's Physician and Employee Campaign for the Kresge Challenge and unveiled a special plaque honoring the MGH physicians and employees who supported the challenge. To date, 1,800 employees, physicians and volunteers have made contributions to the Kresge Challenge, raising $1.6 million.
