MGH Cancer
Center shares awareness about men's cancer
MGH patients, staff and visitors were offered cancer awareness information
at the Men's Cancer Awareness Fair June 18 in the Main Corridor. Hosted
by the MGH Cancer Center, the four-hour event was well attended, allowing
passersby to read posters, gather informational pamphlets and talk to
clinicians.
The event focused on general awareness about the cancers specifically
affecting men such as prostate cancer, and those that are highly prevalent
in males such as lung cancer, which currently is the leading cause of
death in men.

In addition to tips on how to recognize symptoms, there was information
on the value of early detection through cancer screening. From chemotherapy
to radiation, information about current cancer treatments also was available.
A dietitian was on hand to discuss good nutrition and tips for living
a healthy lifestyle.
The MGH Cancer Center is the largest care provider for cancer patients
in New England and is at the forefront in the fight against all cancers.
